Hotel business is primarily about guest impressions. The smell of a smoked room, mustiness, foreign odors can ruin the impression of even the most luxurious hotel. Ozonation solves this problem radically — not masking odors, but destroying them at the molecular level.

In addition to eliminating odors, ozone disinfects all room surfaces: mattresses, pillows, curtains, carpets, upholstered furniture. The gas penetrates the material structure, destroying bacteria, viruses, dust mites and mold spores.

Automation: Modern ozonators are equipped with weekly timers. Treatment can start automatically after room cleaning, without staff involvement.

Problems solved by ozonation

  • Tobacco and hookah odor — complete removal, not masking
  • Mustiness and dampness — especially relevant for rooms without natural ventilation
  • Sweat and perfume odors from previous guests
  • Culinary aromas from room service
  • Pet odors (pet-friendly hotels)
  • Bacteria and viruses on contact surfaces
  • Dust mites in textiles — allergy prevention

Room ozonation process

1

Standard cleaning

Room undergoes regular cleaning: changing linens, wiping surfaces, vacuuming.

2

Ozonator installation

Portable ozonator is placed at maximum height (on wardrobe, shelf). Windows and doors are closed.

3

Ozonation

Treatment starts. Standard mode: 30-60 minutes at 1 g/h per 25 m³ capacity.

4

Ventilation

After treatment — 20-30 minutes ventilation. Ozone decomposes to oxygen, leaving a fresh feeling.

What is treated with ozone

Ozone, being a gas, penetrates all places inaccessible to traditional cleaning:

Textiles

Mattresses, pillows, blankets, curtains, furniture upholstery, carpets

Furniture

Internal cavities of wardrobes, crevices, decorative elements, armrests

Ventilation

Air ducts, grilles, air conditioning system — source of odors and bacteria

Bathroom

Tiles, grout, plumbing — places where bacteria and mold accumulate

Benefits for hotels

  • Higher ratings on Booking, TripAdvisor — reviews about cleanliness and freshness
  • Reduced guest complaints about odors — especially in smoking rooms
  • Prevention of infection transmission between guests
  • Ability to quickly turn over rooms — treatment during time between check-out and check-in
  • Reduced costs for air fresheners and fragrances
  • Extended textile lifespan — odor removal without dry cleaning
Research shows: 87% of guests note "room freshness" as an important factor when evaluating a hotel. Ozonation creates a "just renovated" room feeling.

Ozonated water in the hotel laundry

In a hotel, ozone works not only in the air of the room. If the laundry is in-house, ozone is dissolved directly into the cold water: the generator feeds the gas through an injector into the fill line or through a diffuser into the machine drum. In oxidising power, ozone (2.07 V) is considerably ahead of chlorine (1.36 V), and it inactivates microorganisms thousands of times faster.

For a hotel this is primarily a matter of economics. Heating water to 60–90 °C is the most expensive item in a laundry, and ozone removes it: washing runs at 18–20 degrees. Cold water dissolves more ozone and keeps it active longer, so the low temperature here is the normal operating mode rather than a compromise.

  • Gas for water heating: down 65–90% according to field measurements in operating hotels
  • Water consumption: down by up to 35%, provided surplus rinses are cut at the same time
  • Detergents: down 20–40%; chlorine bleach is not required in most programs
  • Cycles 10–27% shorter — the laundry processes more linen per shift
  • Linen lasts longer: no thermal shock and no aggressive chemistry
  • Disinfection is not compromised: in hospital laundries, ozone washing at room temperature left neither MRSA nor C. difficile
Equipment: There is no need to replace the machines — existing ones are retrofitted with an ozone module: generator, injector, hot-water bypass, sensor and destructor. Machines with factory-fitted ozone are also available. The technology pays back from approximately 500 kg of linen per day; we prepare the calculation for your volume and tariffs before purchase.

Equipment for hotels

For hotels, portable ozonators are recommended, which staff move from room to room after cleaning. This is the optimal solution in terms of price/effectiveness ratio.
